ATRONIC and SPIELO are first-ever Sponsors of GREEN2E

2009/10/19 -

ATRONIC and SPIELO are proud to be the official "Green2E" sponsors for this year's Global Gaming Expo (G2E) at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Nov. 17 to 19, 2009.

“Environmental responsibility is an important part of ATRONIC’s and SPIELO’s core values,” said SPIELO CEO Victor Duarte. “This sponsorship is one way that our companies are trying to make a difference, and to encourage our suppliers and customers to do the same.”

Delegates will see our corporate logos on the event guide, show website, and show map. Our sponsorship supports at least one conference session focusing on energy efficient and green practices in casino management.

ATRONIC and SPIELO are also exclusive G2E show bag sponsors. To reinforce the green theme, instead of providing disposable plastic bags, we're giving away re-usable shopping bags with an eye-catching design featuring the slogan, "Our view has never been greener."

ATRONIC and SPIELO have also applied our green initiatives to product development. Our prodiGi VuTM terminal was developed to conserve energy and reduce waste. It emits 27 per cent less heat than our previous AURA cabinet, reducing cooling costs in gaming operations. It also consumes 27 per cent less energy, reducing venue energy consumption costs, and is 21 per cent lighter, which reduces fuel consumption during shipping. It has energy efficient buttons and service lighting, and was designed without fluorescent or incandescent lighting. All software and games are updated through memory card and Flash downloading, reducing waste and travel for service calls.

The prodiGi Vu as well as e²™ terminals are 100 per cent RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) compliant. Our team worked with countless suppliers and Original Equipment Manufacturers to ensure all our sourced parts and finished products respect these guidelines and proper WEEE disposal directives. Some suppliers had to also acquire new manufacturing equipment and make large capital investments to adopt the guidelines. We’re proud that our initiative in this area has encouraged our partners to invest in and adopt more environmentally responsible practices.

Our parent company, Lottomatica, and its subsidiary, GTECH, have undertaken a number of green initiatives, and SPIELO’s Moncton office has also made an effort to create an environmentally friendly workplace. For instance, in the warehouse, we bale and recycle cardboard. We’ve also replaced four to six per cent of our foam and plastic packing with biodegradable air-filled bags for outbound shipments.

Other in-house initiatives include a voluntary wet/dry waste separation program; default double-sided printing on all copiers, reducing paper usage by 68,000 sheets per year; elimination of most disposable containers from its cafeteria; the use of energy-efficient light bulbs; environmentally friendly cleaning products; pesticide free lawn care products; environmentally friendly paper towel; and the installation of timers on internal signage and demo machines.
